भगवान अर्जुन से कह रहे हैं कि अर्जुन ! अब सुनों मेरे भक्त बनने के, मेरे प्यारे होने के, मेरे प्रिय बनने के लिए लक्षण क्या है ? पात्रता क्या है ? वे गुण कौन से हैं, भगवान गिना रहे हैं। जो मेरे लिए ही कर्म करता है, मुझे ही सब कुछ मानते हुए मेरे परायण होता है। मेरे को ही परम आश्रय मानकर मेरी प्राप्ति के लिए रत रहता है, मेरा ही भजन करता है। मेरे नाम, गुण, प्रभाव और रहस्य के श्रवण, कीर्तन, मनन, ध्यान और पठन-पाठन का निष्काम भाव से प्रेम सहित अभ्यास करता है। संसार में जिसकी आसक्ति नहीं है तथा जो मनुष्य ही नहीं, सभी प्राणियों से किसी भी प्रकार का वैरभाव नहीं रखता हो, ऐसा वह व्यक्ति मेरा प्रिय, मेरा अपना ही है और वह मुझे ही प्राप्त करता है। यह श्लोक भगवद्गीता का सार है। इसमें भगवान ने अपने ही श्री मुख से अपने भक्त के लक्षण बताये हैं। भगवान ने जो मार्ग यहाँ बताया है, उसे करके व्यक्ति परमधाम तक पहुँच सकता है।
God is telling Arjun that Arjun! Now listen, what are the symptoms to become my devotee, to be dear to me, to be dear to me? What is eligibility? What are those qualities, God is counting. The one who works for Me only, considering Me as everything, becomes devoted to Me. Considering me as the ultimate shelter, he keeps on striving for my attainment, worships me only. He practices listening, chanting, meditating, meditating and reciting my name, virtues, effects and secrets with love. The one who does not have attachment to the world and who does not have any kind of enmity with all beings, not only human beings, such a person is my dear, my own and he alone attains me. This verse is the essence of Bhagavad Gita. In this, God has told the characteristics of his devotee through his own mouth. One can reach the supreme abode by following the path that the Lord has told here.
